Super-Update!

Hey, everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I've been super busy with school, Scouts, Linux, building computers, etc, etc. I got some explaining to do, yes, but here it is. I've successfully and permanently switched to Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty. Now, it is on a different HDD, but has become my main computer. I can switch to my old XP HDD, but it's a bit of a pain to switch back and forth, and much prefer Jaunty. That being said, the FTP server that I was hosting my podcasts on is no longer up. Sorry. And even worse, the Podomatic account I had shut off. Seems I only had a limited time with it. Darn. And I can't afford official hosting. But, they are on YouTube, and Blip.tv (www.mahimahi42.blip.tv) for your viewing pleasure. Since I have little free time, my tutorials will be on my blog (here) now instead. So, without further ado, here's my first blog tutorial on Twitter!

Twitter is a microblogging site. Now, what is microblogging? Well, what you're reading now is a blog. A microblog is a mini-blog. With Twitter, you're limited to 140 characters per post. You may be thinking, "What would I write?". Well, just look at their slogan, "What are you doing?". That's what you (usually) write, what are you doing. Simple enough? Then go sign up for an account on www.twitter.com. That's simple. After using it for a few days, you might ask if there's anything other use. Well, I use it to send out links, using www.tr.im. URL shortening sites are good for Twitter's short character cap, and I like tr.im because you can post to Twitter when you shortened the URL.

Now, instead of going to the site EVERY TIME YOU WANT TO UPDATE, you can use what are called Twitter apps, or clients. My favorite, TweetDeck, requires Adobe AIR, but other than that, it's a simple download. Once you install, you can open it up and view your tweets and your followers tweets, AND the people you're following's tweets.

Well, that's all for now. If you have any questions, shoot me an e-mail at BAD1128@gmail.com. DFTBA!
